First batch of Bangladeshis to return from Iran next week

The first batch of Bangladeshi nationals willing to return from war-ridden Iran is expected to arrive home next week, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Sunday.

The repatriation process is being carried out in coordination with neighboring countries and other relevant agencies to ensure the safe return of citizens.

“In view of the ongoing war situation in Iran, the Bangladesh government has started the necessary procedures to bring back all Bangladeshi nationals residing there who wish to return,” said Shah Asif Rahman, director general of the ministry’s Public Diplomacy Wing, in an official statement.

The ministry noted that the repatriation process will take place in phases, with the first group scheduled to arrive by next week. Coordination is ongoing with the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment to manage the process smoothly.

The statement urged all Bangladeshis in Iran who are willing to return to register with the Bangladesh Embassy in Tehran by submitting their personal information. Family members in Bangladesh have also been encouraged to contact authorities

The government reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of Bangladeshi citizens abroad, assuring that all necessary steps are being taken for a secure and orderly repatriation.
