A firefighter who was injured after being struck by a truck while working to extinguish a fire in front of the Secretariat building has sadly passed away.
The victim, identified as Md Sohanur Jaman Nayan, 24, son of Akhtaruzzaman, succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Thursday.
The Fire Service Director General (DG) Zahed Kamal confirmed the news at approximately 6:45 am.
According to witnesses, Nayan was seriously injured at around 3:15 am when a speeding truck hit him as he crossed the road carrying a water pipe on his shoulder. The truck fled the scene but was stopped by a crowd near the Public Works building, not far from the incident site.
Nayan was immediately rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.
