Fire service gets 11 aerial platform ladder vehicles

The government on Saturday gave the Department of Fire Service and Civil Defence 11 aerial platform ladder vehicles to enhance its operational capacity.

Advisor to the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief Faruk E Azam, Bir Protik handed over the replica of keys of the vehicles to the fire service chief at a programme at Purbachal Multipurpose Training Complex of Fire Service, reports BSS.

Of the vehicles, five cars are 38 meters high, four cars are 56 meters high and two cars are 64 meters high, said a fire service press release.

Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest, Farooq E Azam said that the fire service and civil defence are the first responders to all disasters, so these equipments would play a helpful role in extinguishing the fire of multi-storied buildings and rescuing trapped people.

He assured that they would continue their efforts for capacity building of fire service and civil defence.
Major General Md Naheed Asgar, Managing Director, Bangladesh Machine Tools Factory Limited (BMTF) and Brigadier General Muhammad Jahed Kamal, Director General, Directorate of Fire Service and Civil Defence, spoke on the occasion as the special guests.

Disaster Management and Relief Secretary, Md Kamrul Hasan presided over the function.
