Fire tore quickly through a restaurant in the capital’s Paltan on Wednesday, authorities said. Eleven firefighting units from Siddik Bazar Fire Service and Civil Defence responded to the blaze at 6:40pm and responders were trying to bring the flames under control till the filing of this report.
The fire broke out at a restaurant, housed in a two-storey building, near Hotel 71 in Bijoynagar around 6:30pm, Md Shahjahan Shikdar, deputy assistant director (media cell) of Fire Service and Civil Defence, said.
The reasons for the fire mishap and the extent of damage could not be confirmed immediately, he added.
