A fire broke out at the Joypurhat Nursing Institute due to a short circuit in an electrical tool box. The fire broke out around 10 pm on Tuesday (July 15). Considering the mental condition of the students, the institute authorities have declared a two-day general holiday on July 16 and 17.
According to fire service sources, the fire started due to a short circuit. Staff from the nearby Joypurhat General Hospital initially tried to control the fire with fire extinguishers. Later, a fire service team quickly reached the spot and brought the fire under control.
There were no casualties or major damage in the incident, but panic spread among the students during the incident.
Upon receiving the news, Joypurhat General Hospital Superintendent Dr. Sardar Rashed Mubarak and the institute’s in-charge instructor Aklima Khatun visited the scene.
Aklima Khatun, in-charge of Joypurhat Nursing Institute, said, “The students were scared after the fire incident. Considering their mental condition, the institute has been temporarily granted a two-day leave.”
