The fire that broke out at a shoe sole factory at Textile intersection area under Bayezid Bostami Police Station of Chattogram City on Friday afternoon was brought under control.
Nine firefighting units from different fire stations brought the fire under control around 7:30 pm after about three hours of effort, said Md Kamruzzaman, senior station officer of Bayezid Bostami Fire Station.
He said the fire started around 4.30 pm on the second floor of a 6-story building and soon engulfed.
The fire might have originated from an electric short circuit, he added.
However, the origin of the fire could not be known immediately.
No casualties were reported.
According to locals, the factory “Rong The International” is owned by a Chinese investor where shoe soles are manufactured. Fortunately, it was a holiday and there were no workers inside the factory.
