Freedom-fighter certificates of 31 government officials, including a joint secretary and a Bangladesh Bank executive director, have been revoked.
The Ministry of Liberation War Affairs issued an order to this effect on Sunday.
Gazettes and certificates of 29 people have been scrapped, based on reports by the NSI, it said.
Another one was cancelled based on a report by a deputy commissioner, while a minister had ordered the scrapping of the certificate of the other person.
Those who have lost their certificates this time, include Joint Secretary
M Mahbub Ul Alam, Bangladesh Bank’s Executive Director Md Abdul Hamid, and Sylhet registry office’s chief assistant Md Masudul Haq.
Earlier, on July 21, the government had revoked the freedom-fighter certificates of 35 public servants including that of a deputy secretary and a senior railway officer.
The latest move takes the total number of people losing their certificates to 182.
Minister AKM Mozammel Haque said the public administration ministry would be asked to roll back the financial benefits given to them and departmental action would be taken.
