The ‘Suchitra Festival’ has been arranging
in the USA for last 10 years. This festival was inaugurated last year by Bangladeshi popular film actress Moushumi. However, after 10 years, this festival is going to be held on
a much larger scale on April 20 and 21 at
the Jamaica Performing Arts Centre in USA.
The festival has been named ‘Suchitra Sen International Bengali Film Festival and Awards 2024’.
Journalist Hasanuzzaman Saki, one of the organisers of this festival, has confirmed this yesterday.
Saki informed that a press conference has been organised on the occasion of this festival on February 22 at 12:00 noon at the Conference Hall of the National Press Club in Dhaka. Kolkata’s popular film actress Rituparna Sengupta, one of the directors of the jury board of the festival, noted filmmaker Morshedul Islam, Chief Advisor of the festival Dr Ziauddin Ahmed, advisor Dr Nurun Nabi, Nazrul Minto, popular film actor and Member of the Parliament Ferdous Ahmed, film director Reshmi Mitra and many others, will be present at this press conference.
The convener of this festival is Gopal Sanyal, he also said.
Hasanuzzaman Saki told this correspondent, “‘Suchitra Sen Memorial USA’, established in USA in 2012, is the organiser of this festival. 10 feature films, 5 documentary films, and 5 short films from two Bengals can be screened in this two-day 35-hour festival. Many films have been submitted. From there the selected films will be shown at the festival. A press conference has been organised in Dhaka on February 22 to give details about this festival where the guests of honor will be present.”
Noted film actress Rituparna Sengupta confirmed this on mobile phone yesterday and told this correspondent, “Yes, I will be present at the press conference to be organised on the occasion of ‘Suchitra Sen International Film Festival and Awards’ on February 22 in Dhaka. I had a detailed discussion with Hasanuzzaman Saki. I hope to meet those dear faces again. I am really proud to be a guest at such a prestigious festival. I feel even better now that my dear friend hero Ferdous has become a Member of the Parliament. I will meet with him this time. But this time meeting is a little different. My best wishes for Ferdous.”
“I will leave for Kolkata on the morning of February 23. I will come to Dhaka only to attend the press conference,” she also said.
