Fertilizers, seeds recovered from UP chairman

A good amount of fertilizer and seeds of agricultural incentives have been seized from the godowns and houses of Union Parishad of Kathalia upazila under Jhalokathi district on Tuesday night. In this regard, case lodged against 3 persons including local chairman-member after nineteen sacks of government fertilizers and seeds seized in Jhalokathi.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kathalia Police Station Nasir Uddin Sarkar confirming the matter on Wednesday afternoon said Upazila Agriculture Officer Imran Bin Islam has filed a case against three persons including chairman and members as defendants. No one has been arrested in this incident.
According to the police sources the upazila administration seized 6 bags of Aush seeds of 10 kg and 7 bags of fertilizer of 50 kg from Aurabunia Union Parishad of the upazila. According to sources, 6 sacks of BRI rice were also seized from another house.
Union Parishad Chairman Mithu Sikder, Ward No. 1 UP member Helal Sikder and shopkeeper Deepak Kumar Halder have been charged in this incident.
Upazila administration and locals said that at noon local UP member. Local people saw Helal Uddin secretly transferring fertilizer and seeds from the council godown in an autorickshaw. Later they informed the upazila executive officer Nesar Uddin raided the Upazila Parishad.
