Ferdousi Rahman Ely passes away in London

Ferdousi Rahman Ely, wife of A. B. M. Hafizur Rahman, former Assistant General Manager of Sonali Bank of London, England, passed away on May 19, 2021 at the May Day Hospital in London. Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilaihi Rajiun.
Ferdousi Rahman Ely was born on June 06 1956 having graduated from the Motijheel T and T high school, had spent her early years in Wapda road, Badda, Dhaka, Bangladesh with her parents, late Md. Eshaque and late Hafiza Khatoon and four other siblings, Rina, Shirin, Milu and Shaheen. She joined her husband in London, England in April 1977 following her marriage to A. B. M. Hafizur Rahman, a former Assistant General Manager of Sonali Bank of London, England. She was one of the finest chefs and loved to prepare different dishes that were very delicious and nostalgic. She had earned a name for her cooking, both in Bangladesh and in London, England, particularly, her Biriyani has been acclaimed to be of a professional quality for which she had received many requests from friend, family and acquaintances for special occasion and parties. Ely will be fondly remembered for her graceful, charming and elegant personality and for her relentless, without hesitation, contributions, for the social and community needs and activities which she always accomplished with her beautiful smile and humble demeanor. One top official of the Bangladesh Government, on seeing her, soon after her wedding, had commented that there were two most beautiful ladies in the world at the time: Princess Diana of England and Ferdousi Rahman Ely of Bangladesh, he was not wrong. She was blessed with a son and two lovely daughters. While living a happy and a prosperous life with her family, spending as much time as she could with her only grand daughter, unfortunately illness struck her. During the Holy month of this past Ramzan, on April 15 2021, she was taken to the hospital as she had complained of her health and not feeling well. After a battle with cancer at the hospital and no treatment in sight since the root of the disease could not be determined by the physicians, she had passed away on May 19 2021 at the May Day Hospital in London. Inna Lillah Wa Inna Ilahe Rajeun. She was buried on Friday, May 21 2021. Due to the COVID – 19, restrictions imposed for the number of attendees at the funeral turned away many, nevertheless, those that could not enter the cemetery stayed in their vehicles while mourners all over the world joined in at a live Zoom video session to take participate at her burial and prayers for the departed soul. Everyone that knew her and had come in contact with her has been mourning her passing away. Several groups of friends and relatives, at home in London, Dhaka, Nalchithi [ Barisal, Bangladesh ] have been offering prayers and doa for the deceased and for the family to have the strength to bear this irreparable loss.
