With the hands of legendary Ferdausi Rahman, the song teaching programme titled ‘Esho Gaan Shikhi’ started on Bangladesh Television (BTV).
Now she is not teaching music in ‘Esho Gaan Shikhi’ due to her poor health. But now she enjoys the programme with great interest when this programme is aired.
Ferdausi Rahman completed 83 on Friday (June 28). While talking in this regard, this legendary artiste told this correspondent, “After so many years of life, I have stepped into 83 yesterday. Now I don’t go out of the house unless it’s really necessary, unless it’s urgent work. Sometimes I listen to the songs of those who like their music while sitting at home. Like Shahnaz Rahmatullah, Runa Laila, Sabina Yasmin, Kanakchapa, Shakila Jafar, Alam Ara Minu – I like to hear songs in all of their voices. Shahnaz, Runa and Sabina have some similar songs, for which the audience will remember their lives. Later, Bappa Mazumdar, Nancy, Kona, Liza, Apu Aman, Yousuf Ahmed Khan are doing well. But even then, in the end, I still have a ‘but.’ Now those who are singing are not practicing by knowing the grammar of the song. The rest of it is doing just that.”
“Music is actually a matter of pursuit. There are no alternatives or shortcuts. That’s why I did the BTV’s programme ‘Esho Gaan Shikhi’ until a few days ago. So that until the end of my life I can give my knowledge in music. Anyway, I am a candidate for everyone’s prayers,” she also said.
