Maleka Begum (44), a woman tea shopkeeper, died of electrocution while switching on the motor in Natore’s Baraigram.
The incident took place in the Agran Bazar area of the upazila on Friday. The deceased Maleka Begum is the wife of Didar Ali of Agran village of the upazila. Besides running a tea shop with her husband in Agran Bazar, she used to earn her living by selling water to fish trucks.
According to local sources, Maleka Begum was going to switch on the motor to give water to the car loaded with fish in the morning. He was then electrocuted by a faulty electrical connection on the side wall.
Later, the locals rescued her and took her to the Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared her dead.
Shafiul Azam, officer-in-charge of Baraigram police station, said that the condition of the deceased’s body has been reported. A case of has been registered at the police station. Legal action will be taken after investigation.
