Female Rajuk official sued for graft

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Thursday filed a case against a female official of Rajuk (Rajdhani Unnayan Katripakkha) on graft charges.
ACC deputy director Harunur Rashid filed the ease with Ramna Police Station in the capital, ACC public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattcharya told UNB. According to the first information report (FIR), Rajuk steno-typist Salma Khatun (Salma Jahan) has accumulated illegal wealth, worth around Tk 87.4 lakh, against her own name and her adopted son’s.
As per the information given to the ACC by Salma, her moveable and immovable wealth is worth Tk 58 lakh, but the ACC inquiry found that Salma concealed information of wealth worth about Tk 87.4 lakh that she accumulated. The ACC filed the case against Salma under the Anti Corruption Commission Act 2004.
On April 20, the Commission at its regular meeting gave clearance to file the case against the Rajuk official.
Salma joined Rajuk in 1994 as a building sub-inspector and later she was promoted to building inspector.
Salma faced departmental action due to the graft allegation and was relegated to steno-typist.
