Father stabbed to death by son

Father was stabbed to death by his only son Shahnewaz Shimul (29) in Wazirpur upazila underBarishal district.

The deceased has been identified as Shah Alam Khan (63). He is a retired officer of the Power Development Board.

The incident took place at around 2 pm on Sunday (July 27) in Paschim Khatialpara village of Barakotha union of the upazila.

It is learnt that Shahnewaz Shimul, only son of Shah Alam Khan, has been addicted to drugs for a long time. He took drugs forcing his family on various pretexts.

When he asked his father for drug-money in the morning. Asfather refused to give the money, son scolded him about taking drugs.

Enraged, son stabbed his father with a knife in the house. Father Shah Alam Khan died on the spot.

Upon receiving the information, the locals detained the accused murderer Shahnewaz Shimul and beating him handedover to the police.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Wazirpur Police Station Abdus Salam confirming the information said, “I with police force reached the spot after receiving the information.

The accused has been arrested and the body is sent to Barishal SBMCH for autopsy.”
