Allegations have once again been raised against Dr. Begum Samia Sultana, the Director General (Routine Duty) of the Soil Resources Development Institute (SRDI), who was widely regarded as an influential official during the tenure of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

At that time, evidence of widespread corruption was found in the audit report of the Department of Agriculture and Environment. Instead of being punished for corruption, she was mysteriously promoted during the interim government.

Even though Sheikh Hasina fled, the then director Dr. Begum Samia Sultana, a known fascist ally, did not flee. Rather, the accused official led the removal of Md. Jalal Uddin from the post of Director General by creating a mob to cover up his own corruption.

After the removal of Md. Jalal Uddin, Dr. Begum Samia Sultana started a corruption festival by taking over the routine duties of the Director General. Now she is the Director General and Director of the Soil Resources Development Institute herself.

The state has organized its own crime with its own people. Recently, allegations of irregularities have been received in the recruitment of 37 irregular workers. The Director General’s attached officer, Md. Faruk Hesen, has recruited 9 people from Isabpur Union.
The compliance audit inspection report of the Soil Resources Development Institute for the 2022-2023 audit year, conducted by the Directorate of Agriculture and Environmental Audit, has revealed widespread corruption. Begum Samia Sultana committed these corruptions as a director during this time.

As the story of growing up as a corrupt official goes, Begum Samia Sultana, born in Chapai Nawabganj, joined the politics of the Chhatra League while studying at Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh in the 1985-86 academic year.

In 1998, Sultana Razia Hall was elected as a member of the BCU Student Parliament on the Chhatra League panel in the BCU Student Parliament election. This began her direct contact and closeness with Sheikh Hasina. She used to introduce herself as “I am someone who does politics with Sheikh Hasina”.

When asked about the mountain of allegations against him, he told the media, “The government made me the next DG on August 5th. I have worked professionally throughout my career.

“Those who don’t like it, who want to destabilize the institution, are now bringing all this up”, She added.
