Islami Chhatra Sena, student wing of Bangladesh Islami Front, has called a countrywide half-day hartal for tomorrow (Sunday) demanding arrest of the killers of High Court Mazar mosque ‘Khatib’ and Islamic programme presenter Moulana Nurul Islam Faruqi. The hartal programme will be observed across the country from 6:00am to 2:00pm, Nurul Haque Chisty, president of the organisation, announced at a press briefing at its central office in the capital’s Fakirapul on Saturday afternoon. Moulana Nurul Islam Faruqi was slaughtered at his residence in East Rajabazar in the capital on Wednesday evening. About 60, Faruqi was the international affairs secretary of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat, and a presidium member of Bangladesh Islami Front. He owned a hajj agency, Faruqi Tours and Travels Private Ltd, and presented Islamic programmes on two private television channels.
