Journalist and author Faruk Wasif has been reappointed as the Director General of the Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) for a two-year term.
“This recruitment will come into effect on the day he joins,” according to a gazette notification issued by the Public Administration Minist.ry on Wednesday.
Earlier, Press Institute Bangladesh (PIB) Director General Zafar Wazed resigned from his post following protests by officials and employees of the institute. Concurrently, journalist Md Abdullah has been named as the managing director of the Bangladesh Journalist Welfare Trust.
The public administration ministry announced the appointments in two separate notifications on Wednesday.
Faruk, who served as the planning editor at the daily Samakal, succeeds senior journalist Zafar Wazed at PIB.
Abdullah takes over from Subhash Chanda Badal at the Journalist Welfare Trust.
Faruk’s appointment is effective from the date of joining, provided he relinquishes ties with other institutionstions.
