Noted Lalon singer Farida Parveen has been ill for a long time. She is
suffering from kidney and diabetes problems.
This artiste developed a physical problem while undergoing
dialysis and was taken to the ICU.
Since then, it has been spread on social media that Farida Parveen
is unable to seek treatment due to lack of money. She was urged to come forward for medical assistance.
Farida Parveen’s husband and noted instrumentalist Gazi Abdul Hakim shared that while her condition has somewhat stabilised, her overall health remains critical.
“She’s very weak-she can’t stand or walk. In the past few months, she
had to be admitted to the ICU three times. She’s suffering from serious lung and kidney issues. Please keep her in your prayers,” he said.
However, Farida Parveen’s son Imam Jafar Nomani said that this
is not true. He also said that it is disrespectful to Farida Parveen.
Farida Parveen has refused to accept any government assistance for her medical treatment.
Imam Jafar Nomani wrote on Facebook about the rumours spreading about Farida Parveen’s medical assistance, “We are trying to make my mother’s treatment as good as possible. Several other advisors, including the Ministry of Culture, have contacted us, and I am grateful to them.
Amma has respectfully declined to accept any kind of donation. She wants this government donation to be used by the financially disadvantaged.
Don’t the pages and cultural organisations that are using Farida Parveen’s name everywhere asking for donations understand – how disrespectful that is to her.”
Farida Parveen began her illustrious musical journey in 1968 as a listed Nazrul Sangeet artiste for Rajshahi Radio. She rose to fame in the 1970s with patriotic songs and later became a prominent figure in Lalon music, training under spiritual mentor Moksed Ali Shah.
