Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam on Thursday clarified that Fisheries and Livestock Adviser Farida Akhter had ‘misspoken’ regarding the non-disclosure of the draft tariff agreement with the United States.
“She misspoke on this matter,” Alam stated when asked about Akhter’s earlier remarks expressing concern over the secrecy surrounding the draft.
He explained that keeping the draft bilateral agreement confidential is a long-established diplomatic norm.
“The interim government is committed to full transparency and will request US authorities to remove the non-disclosure clause once the tariff agreement is finalised,” Alam added.
