The University of Liberal Arts (ULAB) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) jointly organised an activation event for an inter-university art fest at the campus of ULAB on Thursday.
FAO is organising this inter-university competition in partnership with leading universities to promote food and agriculture issues and stories, according to a media release.
Participants from these institutions will submit entries in the following categories: short videos and photojournalism.
Awards will be made for each university for each category, and the winners will enter the inter-university stage.
FAO will provide briefings by experts at each university to explain the topics during the activation phase.
The first activation event, attended by about 30 students, was held at The University of Liberal Arts (ULAB) for its students.
Ms Syeda Sadia Mehjabin, Senior Lecturer of the Media Studies and Journalism (MSJ) department at ULAB, delivered the welcome speech at the event.
Ms. Masuma Chowdhury, Nutrition and Gender Specialist at FAO, facilitated the technical session for the students.
Ms Nusrat Anwar, National Communications Specialist at FAO, initiated the event.
Muhammad Aminuzzaman, Senior Lecturer of the Media Studies and Journalism (MSJ) department at The University of Liberal Arts (ULAB) concluded the event with a call for action for the participants.
