BSS :

Family members of the martyred army officers demanded a fair reinvestigation into the Pilkhana carnage took place on February 25 and 26, 2009.

They made the demand during a meeting with Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus at the State Guest House Jamuna.

Family members of the slain army officers also demanded declaring February 25 as the Martyred Army Day.

While talking to the chief advisor, they described their suffering and how the fallen autocratic Sheikh Hasina regime had mentally tortured and harassed them.

They said they also faced inhumane torture when they demanded justice and they had to face untold pressure to remain silent from telling the truth.

The families of martyrs said the campaign of the fascist Hasina government about allocating residential flats for the families of the martyred army officers in the newly constructed housing complex on Mainul Road in Dhaka Cantonment, was completely false as no apartment has so far been allotted for them.

They also said many other promises made to the martyrs’ families, including free education for their children, are yet to be fulfilled.

Chief Adviser Prof Yunus expressed surprise as a complete probe into the Pilkhana carnage has not been completed even after so many years.

“Keeping the information about this carnage secret for so many years is unbelievable. Today I learned many things from you,” he said adding that the interim government would put its best efforts to unveil the truth behind the carnage.

All the information related to Pilkhana carnage must be unearthed as soon as possible. People from all over the country witnessed this carnage. On behalf of the nation, we feel that justice should be prevailed, the Chief Adviser said.

Law Adviser Asif Nazrul, Industries and Public Works Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan, Environment, Forest and Climate Change Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Power and Energy Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, Adviser Mahfuj Alam and Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain, among others, were present.
