FAME project aims to empower women
Staff Reporter :
A transformative project titled “Feminism: Action and Mobilisation for Inclusive Economy (FAME)” has been officially launched in Bangladesh, aiming to empower over 2,000 women and bolster grassroots civil society organizations (CSOs) across the country.
The initiative, supported by the French government, reflects France’s commitment to feminist diplomacy. With a total budget of €10 million, the project will run from 2024 to 2027 across ten countries, including Bangladesh.
In Bangladesh, the FAME project will channel support through three grant windows to promote economic inclusion, gender equality, and social justice.
Speaking at the official launch event, held in Dhaka this week and organized by the Dhaka Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DWCCI), French Ambassador Marie Masdupuy said, “This initiative reflects France’s ongoing support to local actors working for systemic, inclusive change. The FAME project embodies our feminist diplomacy in action.”
The project is funded by Agence Française de Développement (AFD) and the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs under the Support Fund for Feminist Organizations (FSOF).
