Fakirerpool force Fortis to split point in BPL Football

Fakirerpool Young Men’s Club forced ten men Fortis Football Club to split point when their match ended in a 1-1 draw in the Bashundhara Group Bangladesh Premier League Football was held at Bashundhara Kings Arena in the capital on Friday.

In the day’s match, Nigerian forward Ojukwu David Ifegwu scored for Fortis, while Fakirerpool’s foreign recruit Ben Ibrahim netted for his side.

Fortis led the first half 1-0.
After the attack and counterattack, Ifegwu finally broke the dead-lock scoring the first goal for Fortis in the 33rd minute.

After the resumption, Fortis were reduced to ten men by the referee as Mohammad Sarowar Jahan got the marching order in the 56th minute for his unsporting behaviour.

Taking this advantage, Fakirerpool fought back in the match when forward Ben Ibrahim levelled the margin in the 65th minute of the match.

After that both the teams, however, got several scoring chances but failed to increase the margin in the remaining proceeding and eventually both the teams had to leave the field splitting one point each.

With the day’s outcome, Fortis moved up fifth position in the league table gaining 18 points from 12 matches, while Fakirerpool, who stood eighth position in the league table, collected ten points playing the same number of matches.

Earlier, in the first leg, Fortis Football Club blanked Fakirerpool 3-0 was held at Shaheed Barkat Stadium in Gazipur.

Three matches will be held today (Saturday) with league leaders Mohammedan Sporting Club will play against their arch-rivals Dhaka Abahani Limited at Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium in Cumulla, Bashundhara Kings will meet Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society at the Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj and Brothers Union Limited will face Chittagong Abahani Limited at Rafiq Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh.
