Fakhrul warns of deep plot to derail national election

Staff Reporter :

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Tuesday renewed his warning that a “deep-rooted conspiracy” is being hatched to divert the upcoming national election from its rightful course, urging teachers across the country to stay vigilant and cautious.

“I want to remind you that teachers have a crucial role to play in the coming election. You must carry out your responsibilities sincerely in every sphere. A deep conspiracy is underway to derail the election process-please remain alert to thwart it,” he said while addressing a grand teachers’ rally.

Fakhrul reiterated that BNP’s only objective is to build a prosperous and developed Bangladesh, fulfilling the dream of the party’s founder and late President Ziaur Rahman. “Our path is one, our destination is one-to build a truly developed Bangladesh,” he said.

The Shikkhok-Karmachari Oikya Jote, a platform of BNP-leaning teachers and education employees, organised the rally at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital to mark World Teachers’ Day.

The gathering pressed for several demands, including a non-discriminatory education system, extending the retirement age to 65, bringing non-MPO institutions under the MPO scheme, and nationalising the jobs of teachers and staff at private institutions.

Fakhrul said the BNP has already incorporated all major teacher-related demands into its 31-point reform agenda, pledging to implement them once in power. “We want you to nurture your students as honest, ethical, and responsible citizens so that together we can establish a modern and equitable education system,” he added.

The BNP leader said the party’s ultimate goal is to guide the nation toward a genuine democratic transition.

BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman addressed the rally virtually from London, while Shikkhok-Karmachari Oikya Jote Chairman Principal Selim Bhuiyan presided over the event.
BNP Standing Committee members Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan, Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, Professor AZM Zahid Hossain, former state minister for education ANM Ehsanul Haq Milon, National University Vice-Chancellor Professor ASM Amanullah, and former Dhaka University Pro-VC AFM Yusuf Haider, among others, also spoke.
Thousands of teachers and education employees from across the country took part in the rally.
