As per the previous announcement for the distribution of rice among the stakeholder fishermen of Morrelganj Upazila in Bagerhat district the distribution was started in the Khawlia Union Parishad premises on Wednesday. But it was found that a list of 375 fishermen prepared by the concerned authorities excluding the genuine fishermen.
Then the aggrieved genuine fishermen to demonstrate against matter and consequently, the Tag Officer was forced to stop the distribution of rice in the face of the demonstration. Then Md. Zahid Hasan Master, UP Chairman of Khawlia told, some 21 metric tons rice will be distributed among the 375 genuine fishermen and tried to bring the situation under control. But he also failed to pacify the situation and was finally forced to stop the distribution of the rice.
Being informed of the matter S M Tarek Sultan, UNO (Upazila Nirbahi Officer), Morrelganj told, after completion proper distribution of matter the rice distributed among the genuine stakeholder fishermen.
A number of genuine (stakeholder} fishermen told, we came here from the different far places to receive the rice as per the list prepared by the Upazila Fishery Office earlier.
