NN Online:

The Facebook (FB) accounts of key figures of anti-discrimination student movement, such as Hasnat Abdullah, Sarjis Alam, and Asif Mahmud, remain untraceable.

On Thursday afternoon, around 3:30pm, despite extensive searching, their verified FB accounts are yet to be located. Several sources suggested that their FB accounts might have been disabled.

Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan, the adviser of the interim government, has another verified FB account, which remains active. However, in the past 24 hours, no posts or activities have been made from this account.

A coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement clarified that none of their FB accounts had been disabled or damaged. He said, “The FB accounts were deactivated due to some technical issues. We are working to identify those responsible for these actions and the initial reports indicate that few of them are operating from within Bangladesh.”

Syed Abdullah – an activist – shared his experience regarding the matter. He said, “I received a message yesterday afternoon about an attempt to disable my Facebook account. After securing my account, I later found that it had been suspended.”

He alleged that the cyber team of the Awami League (AL) was behind this incident and claimed that after this incident, targeted actions were carried out against them through various pages.”
