Extortion case filed against Aziz, Benazir

A case has been filed against five persons, including former Army Chief General (Retired) Aziz Ahmed and former Inspector General of Police Benazir Ahmed for demanding Taka 100 crore as extortion from a businessman.
Selim Prodhan, Chairman of Japan-Bangladesh Security Printing and Papers, filed the case with the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Md Ali Haider on Thursday.

The other three accused of the case are Haris Ahmed and Tofail Ahmed alias Joseph, both are brothers of Gen (Retired) Aziz and Lieutenant Colonel Shafiullah Bulbul, former Commanding Officer of RAB-3.

Upon the hearing, the court recorded the statement of the complainant and asked the Crime Investigation Department (CID) of Police to submit the investigation report within the shortest possible time.

Selim Prodhan in his complaint mentioned that the then RAB-3 official Shafiullah Bulbul following an order of the then IGP Benazir and Army Chief General (Retired) Aziz Ahmed went to his Gulshan residence on September 7 of 2019 and demanded a ‘Range Rover’ jeep as extortion.

The RAB Official again on September 24 went to the residence of Selim Prodhan and demanded Taka 100 crore as extortion. Otherwise, he was threatened to be made accused in a casino case.

Selim Prodhan said they also snatched away his belongings, including dollars worth about Taka 10 crore from him.
