Experts at a daylong training programme Saturday stressed for proper separation and preservation of animal hides to ensure better quality with excellent price of the valuable export item at local and international markets.
They were addressing the training programme arranged at the Shilpokola Academy auditorium in Panchagarh district town on ‘Proper Separation and Preservation of Animal Hides’ for the hides and skin traders, animal slaughterers and other concerned people.
Bangladesh Finished Leather, Leather Goods and Footwear Exporters Association (BFLLGFEA), Bangladesh Economic Growth Programme (BEGP) of the Ministry of Commerce and Leather Sector Business Promotion Council (LSBPC) jointly organised the training programme.
President of Panchagarh District Skin Traders’ Association Hafizul Islam presided over the training programme attended by over 100 concerned participants of the sub-Himalayan district.
Project Director of the BEGP and Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce Dr Md Golam Yahhiya attended and addressed the daylong training programme as the chief guest.
Vice-chairman of the Executive Committee of BFLLGFEA Majibur Rahman Maju, its Member Md Shakhawat Hossain and General Secretary of Panchagarh District Skin Traders’ Association Ataur Rahman attended as the special guests.
Chairman of the Department of Leather Engineering of Dhaka University and Assistant Professor Md Sabur Ahmed delivered the keynote presentation and conducted the daylong training programme as the main resource person.
He discussed proper ways of slaughtering animals, separation of hides, various parts of hides and quality, defects in slaughtering of animals and separation of hides, impacts of various steps in less cuts and curing of animal hides, techniques for containing its quality and provided necessary trainings.
The chief guest urged the participants for ensuring proper slaughtering of sacrificial animals, adoption of appropriate techniques for separating and preservation of hides to maintain quality for enhancing exports to earn more foreign exchange for the nation.
