Health experts at a views-exchange meeting have called for engaging well-coordinated and comprehensive efforts of all concerned to prevent breeding of Aedes mosquito and spread of dengue fever.
Rangpur City Corporation (RpCC) organised the meeting at its conference room on Tuesday afternoon for heads of different government departments, hospitals, educational institutions, officials, teachers and civil society members.
The meeting was arranged for chalking out comprehensive plans to make common aware of the symptoms of dengue fever as advance preventive measures.
Mayor of Rangpur Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa attended the meeting as chief guest with Chief Executive Officer of RpCC Akhter Hossain Azad in the chair.
Chief Medical Officer of RpCC Dr. Kamruzzaman Ibne Taz discussed essence of keeping potential places like waterlogged and dirty places, institutions, houses and offices clean for preventing Aedes mosquito breeding and spread of dengue fever.
Additional Divisional Commissioner (General) Md. Zakir Hossain addressed the meeting as special guest. Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Mostafa Khaled Ahmed, Deputy Director of Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH) Dr. Sultan Ahmed, Principal of Rangpur Medical College (RMC) Dr. Nur Islam, Civil Surgeon Dr. Hirombo Kumar Roy, spoke as expert discussants.
Divisional Director of Islamic Foundation AKM Golam Kibria, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Syed Enamul Kabir, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Rangpur Metropolitan Police Abdullah Al Faruk, Headmistress of Rangpur Government Girls’ High School Farida Yasmin, addressed.
Dr. Sultan stressed on creating public awareness and engaging coordinated efforts of all concerned for implementation of various steps taken by the government to eliminate mosquito and maintain cleanliness everywhere.
Dr. Mostafa called for ensuring cleanliness at offices, institutions, homesteads, drainage and sewerage systems to prevent breeding of Aedes and other species of mosquitoes for checking spread of dengue fever and other mosquito attributed diseases.
