Exchange views with Portuguese royal family in Sylhet

A exchange of views was held at an elite hotel in Sylhet city with members of the Portuguese royal family and people from various professions, including businessmen of Sylhet on Thursday night, the speakers called for investment in potential areas of the country including Sylhet through the royal family. Prominent businessmen, social workers and teachers from Sylhet were present at the exchange of views. Fahim Ahmed Chowdhury, Managing Director of Baraka Power Limited, gave a presentation on the business potential of Sylhet at the meeting. He highlighted various areas of investment in the Sylhet region and called on Portuguese businessmen to invest in Bangladesh through the royal family. Asaduzzaman Sayem of ED Akbet gave a presentation on child labor at the meeting. He highlighted Akbet’s contribution to child education and prevention of child labor. Bangladesh Cricket Board Director Rahat Shams highlighted the potential of sports in the region and the stories of the youth. The Duke of Braganza Dom Duarte Pio, a member of the Braganza royal family of Portugal, his wife Isabel Ines de Castro C. D. and son Afonso de Santa Maria de Braganza were present as guests at the event. Also present were Sir Asif Nisar Bajwa, Sir Sheikh Aliur Rahman OBE.

On this occasion, a colorful program titled ‘Royal Visit and First Term Celebration’ was organized at the Rise School premises. The program featured various cultural presentations including traditional dances and songs of Sylhet. The members of the royal family watched these activities with fascination. The school premises became lively with their arrival.
The members of the royal family said in their speech, we have come to visit Bangladesh. The weather, nature and environment of this country fascinate us. The traditional cultural activities presented by the young children fascinated us even more. The curriculum and teaching method of this school seems to be much more effective and rich. The Duke of Braganza Dom Duarte Pio, a member of the Braganza royal family of Portugal, his wife Isabel Ines de Castro C. D. and son Afonso de Santa Maria de Braganza were present as guests at the program. Sir Asif Nisar Bajwa, Sir Sheikh Aliur Rahman OBE were also present. The Royal Visit and First Term Celebration specially honored two prominent entrepreneurs of London Tea Estate, Sir Sheikh Aliur Rahman and Sir Asif Nisar Bajwa. Rise School Director Fahim Ahmed Chowdhury, Head of Pre-School Department Rushina Chowdhury, Rise Admin Zeenat Mustafa, teachers, students and parents were present at the time.
At the beginning, Rise School students welcomed the royal guests with flowers. The entire school premises became colorful with banners, flags and children’s laughter. Speakers at the event said that today is a proud day for the Rise School family. The long-standing contribution of the Braganza Royal Family towards humanity, equality and education will be a source of inspiration around the world. Rise School Director Fahim Ahmed Chowdhury said that this visit will inspire our students to dream big, live noble lives and embody the values of humanity in every aspect of their lives.
Incidentally, the Duke of Braganza Dom Duarte Pio is the current head of the House of Braganza. He is widely recognized within the network of European royal families and represents Portugal. His wife Isabel Inés de Castro Carvalho de Heredia, Duchess of Braganza, is a businesswoman and descendant of a Portuguese aristocratic family. She married Dom Duarte Pio in 1995 in the first royal wedding held in Portugal since 1886. She is the patron of several Portuguese charities and non-profit foundations. And the Prince of Beira, Afonso de Santa Maria de Braganza, is the eldest son of Dom Duarte Pio and the heir apparent to the Portuguese throne.
