A case has been filed against 165 people including ex – Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina, Awami League, Awami League( AL) general secretary and former minister Obaidul Quader, Ex-Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan kamal, ex-DB chief Haroon -ur-Rashid for their alleged involvement in the attack on anti-discrimination students movement and killing of protesters during the July uprising in Kishoreganj.
Officer in Charge (OC) of Kishoreganj sadar model police station, Abdullah -al-Mamun told the New Nation that,
Md Tariqul Islam, who was injured during the movement, filed the case with Kishoreganj Sadar police station.
Tariqul is a resident of Narayanpur village under Netrokona’s Kendu upazila and studies at Gurudayal Government College, Kishoreganj.
The case statement alleged that the accused ordered to attack on protesters at Akhra Bazar and Shahidi Mosque area on August 4. The attackers, equipped with firearms and sharp weapons, carried out the attack.
At least three were killed and some others, including Tariqul, suffered bullet injuries, according to the case statement.
With this, over 50 “political cases” have so far been filed in different police stations of Kishoreganj since the ouster of the AL government on August 5 last year, according to district police.
Some 4,000 named people including Sheikh Hasina, former president Abdul Hamid, Obaidul Quader, and former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, and over 10,000 unnamed people were made accused in the cases.
