Former textile and jute minister and former Awami League lawmaker from the Narayanganj-1 constituency, Golam Dastagir Gazi, was placed on a three-day remand in connection with the murder of school student Roman in Rupganj of Narayanganj.
Narayanganj’s senior judicial magistrate Haider Ali passed the order on Thursday after police sought a seven-day remand for the Gazi, said Advocate Sakhawat Hossain, former president of the Narayanganj District Bar Association.

Roman was shot dead in Rupganj during the anti-discrimination student movement, said the lawyer.
A case was subsequently filed regarding the murder, in which Gazi is named as one of the accused, he added.
