Saiful Islam (30), the former president of the Dhaka District North Chhatra League, was arrested from his residence in Savar Bazaar Road by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in connection with a murder case linked to the anti-discrimination student movement.

The arrest was confirmed on Sunday, September 22, at around 6:30 PM by CPC-2, RAB-4 Company Commander Major Jalis Mahmud Khan. Saiful was later handed over to the police in connection with a murder case filed at the Savar Model Police Station.

Saiful Islam, son of Joj Mia from the Mushurikhola area in Vakurta Union, Savar, was previously the president of the Dhaka District North Chhatra League.

Police sources revealed that several murder cases have been registered against Saiful based on specific allegations. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend other suspects involved in the cases.

RAB officials stated that Saiful Islam was arrested in relation to a murder case filed at Savar Model Police Station regarding the student-led anti-discrimination movement.
