Former director general of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Md Mainul Islam has been detained by the immigration police at the airport on Tuesday in connection with ongoing investigations.
According to intelligence sources, Mainul Islam arrived at the airport with his wife, intending to travel to Canada. However, details regarding his immediate detention have not yet been confirmed.
On February 25, 2009, the BDR (now known as BGB) rebellion and the brutal massacre at Pilkhana resulted in the deaths of 74 people, including 57 army officers. Mainul Islam was appointed as the director general of the force within 48 hours of the tragic incident.
