Chairman of Natundhara Bangladesh NDB, Momin Mahadi, said that even dead bodies have no security in today’s Bangladesh. The country is now on a path more terrifying than during the era of dictatorship, where even mothers at home and imams of mosques are not safe. Not only that, but under the so-called “New Bangladesh” of Nobel laureate Yunus, even dead bodies are not secure.

He made these remarks while speaking to journalists on September 7 at 5 PM at Bijoy Milonayaton, Topkhana Road. At the time, he strongly condemned the brutal killing of a mosque’s khatib in Bhola, the burning of the body of Nurul Pagla in Rajbari, and the killing during an attack on a Milad-un-Nabi (SAW) procession. He further said that, though tragic, it is true that even though Bangladesh achieved independence, in the past 54 years it has never found any truly dedicated political party or individual committed to preserving and safeguarding that independence. As a result, independence today is being neglected and trampled by those in power. Whoever has come to power has always tried to justify crime, corruption, price hikes, and all evils by comparing them with those of previous regimes.

Earlier, at a press conference organized by Natundhara Bangladesh NDB demanding justice for those who desecrated the body of Nurul Pagla, he added: “The Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said, ‘There is no enmity with a dead body—even if it is that of a Jew.’ Nurul Pagla was a Muslim, and those who committed this barbarity against his dead body must not be spared under any circumstances.” At that very moment, upon hearing the news of the brutal killing of the khatib in Bhola, the leaders of Natundhara also condemned the incident.

Present at the event were Presidium Member Freedom Fighter Fazlul Haque, Senior Vice Chairman Shanta Farjana, Vice Chairmen Dr. Nurjahan Nira and Mahmud Hasan Taher, Joint Secretaries General Monir Zaman and Wazed Rana, Organizing Secretary Haridas Sarkar, Al Amin Bairagi, Bithi Howlader, Aftab Mondal, Md. Abul Matin, Salman Sheikh, among others.
