Speakers at a function here on Wednesday stressed the need for establishing citizen’s charter (CC) in all government offices to ensure transparency and accountability in service delivery.
“The CC undoubtedly helps the service providers to deliver services to the people in an efficient manner and improve access of citizens to receive public services side by side with being responsive and accountable to citizens”, they said. They made the comments while addressing a Capacity Building Workshop on CC Implementation at the DC offices and SPS Methods and Techniques at Hotel Naz Garden in Bogra.
Ministry of Public Administration (MOPA) has organized the two-day workshop for the administration officials, civil society members, public representatives and journalists under Civil Service Change Management Programme financed by UNDP and government of Bangladesh.
Rajshahi Divisional commissioner M Helal Uddin Ahmed addressed the workshop as the chief guest and director general of Prime Minister’s Office (Governance Innovation Unit) Abdul Halim, joint secretary of the MOPA Zafar Ikbal and deputy commissioner of Bogra M Shafiqur Reza Biswas were present as the special guests.
The guests in their speeches discussed elaborately about the objectives of the CC and sought cooperation of all to make the initiatives undertaken by the government a grand success to attain the cherished goal.
They also urged the media men to create much awareness among the common people through publishing positive reports in their respective media to help the men get desired services from the service providers without any hassle. A total of 85 additional deputy commissioners, assistant commissioners, members of civil society, public representatives and media personalities coming from 16 districts of Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions including Kushtia district are taking part in the workshop.
