Security measures in Dhaka have been further strengthened ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr to ensure a safe and festive environment for city residents. Law enforcement agencies have taken special precautions to allow
people to celebrate Eid without disruption, according to Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police (DB) Chief Rezaul Karim Mallik.
Speaking at a press conference at the DMP Media Centre on Saturday (29 March), the DB Chief stated that police operations across the capital have been intensified in preparation for Eid.
A total of 667 patrol teams and 71 police checkpoints have been deployed across 50 police stations in Dhaka. Additionally, surveillance has been increased at shopping malls, bus and launch terminals, and railway stations to prevent any untoward incidents.To combat rumours and cybercrime during Eid, the DB’s cyber team is actively monitoring digital activities.
The DB Chief urged citizens to report any criminal activity or suspicious incidents by calling 999 for immediate police assistance. He emphasised that law enforcement agencies are now more capable and better equipped than ever before.
He also highlighted that police presence in markets and shopping malls has been significantly increased to ensure people can shop freely and without concern.
The police are fully prepared to maintain a safe and secure Eid celebration. However, public awareness is essential, and citizens are encouraged to report any suspicious activity to law enforcement immediately. With collective vigilance, Eid can be both safe and joyful for everyone.
