The Engineers’ Rights Movement has unveiled a plan to boycott classes and exams across all engineering universities and the engineering faculties of other universities nationwide this Thursday.
The announcement was made by the movement’s president, Md Waliullah, at the Shahbagh intersection in the capital around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 27.
Waliullah stated, “Starting Thursday, classes and examinations will be boycotted at all engineering universities and engineering faculties of other universities. If our demands are not met, we will reveal the next course of action at a press conference scheduled for 5 p.m. at the Council Hall of the Institution of Engineers.”
Condemning police action on Wednesday, he added, “As we marched toward Jamuna, we were subjected to a despicable police assault. More than 50 engineering students were injured, with many hospitalized. We have clearly raised this issue with the advisers.”
He emphasized, “To be clear about our plan—we have three demands, none of which have been fulfilled. Our movement will persist.
