As part of the previously announced “Long March to Dhaka” initiative, engineering students from universities nationwide blocked the Shahbagh intersection in the capital for the second straight day on Wednesday, August 27, pressing three key demands.
The demonstration began around 11:00 am, leading to the closure of the intersection and nearby roads and causing significant traffic jams.
The students’ demands are:
- Abolish the practice of listing the title “Engineer” before the names of diploma engineers.
- Stop promoting diploma engineers to the ninth grade.
- Create opportunities for undergraduate engineers to hold tenth-grade positions.
