A transport mechanic named Md. Shaheen (26) was shot dead in public in the Bank Colony area of Savar. A man named Mehedi Hasan (50) was arrested in a raid in this incident. It is alleged that Mehedi Hasan had shot and killed a man named Abdur Rashid in the head earlier.
Savar Model Police Station Sub-Inspector Motasim Billah confirmed the arrest on Friday (May 23) morning. Earlier, he was arrested in a raid conducted in Tongi Police Station area of Gazipur on Thursday evening.
Police said that Mehedi fled after shooting Shaheen dead in front of the house of former MP Salauddin Babu in the Bank Colony area adjacent to the Arichamukhi lane of the Dhaka-Aricha highway at around 9:30 pm on May 29. The deceased’s wife, Maria Akhter, filed a murder case against an unknown person as the plaintiff in the incident. After filing the case, the police started an investigation and RAB-4 also started a shadow investigation. Later, Mehedi was arrested after conducting a raid at a house in the Tongi police station area of Gazipur on Thursday evening.
