Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, Adviser to the Ministry of Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources, issued an official directive on Sunday, requiring immediate public announcements for any disruptions in electricity, metro rail, road, or railway services.
The directive follows incidents on Saturday, where metro rail operations were temporarily halted, and a power outage affected the Khulna region.
According to the directive, the heads of the relevant ministries or agencies failed to inform the adviser about these disruptions, with the information coming to light only through social media.
The new directive mandates that any service disruptions, whether affecting customers or passengers, must be promptly communicated via television scrolls. Additionally, when services are restored, a similar announcement should be made, accompanied by an apology for the inconvenience caused.
The adviser emphasised that customer and passenger services are not privileges but responsibilities, underscoring the importance of timely communication during service interruptions.
A source from the Ministry of Road Transport confirmed that Adviser Khan expressed dissatisfaction over the lack of timely response and failure to inform the public regarding the metro rail disruption and power outage. He has called for explanations from the concerned authorities.
