Emergency control room after 5.7 quake activated

The Dhaka district administration has activated an emergency control room to coordinate updates on casualties and structural damage after the 5.7-magnitude earthquake that struck Bangladesh on Friday morning.

The disaster management wing of the deputy commissioner’s office confirmed the development through a press release signed by Deputy Commissioner Md Rezaul Karim.

The quake, which hit at 10:38am, has so far claimed at least six lives and injured several others. Numerous buildings across Dhaka and other districts have also sustained damage.

According to the release, the control room was set up urgently at the DC office to monitor the post-earthquake situation, conduct damage assessments, and coordinate rescue efforts. The public has been requested to contact the control room (01700-716678, 02-41051065) for any earthquake-related updates or emergency support.
The administration said it is keeping a close watch on the evolving situation and has already taken necessary measures to assist the affected people and areas.
