Electric poles on the Tangail highway pose a risk of accidents.
Mustafa Kamal Nannu, Tangail:
The extension of the Nagarpur-Aricha highway in Tangail is currently underway. People in the area are facing risks to their lives due to the slow progress of the work and the rainy weather. Additionally, despite the ongoing road construction, there are electric poles still standing in the middle of the road at various locations.
At least 15 electric poles along the highway can be seen standing in the middle of the road in various places. If the poles are not removed, a major accident could happen, according to the driver and locals in the vehicles.
Pickup driver Johnny said, “The poles are not visible properly at night. Suddenly the poles come in front of the vehicles.
Locals complain that this risky situation has been created due to a lack of proper coordination between the power department and the extension of the road.
Deputy General Manager of the Nagpur Rural Electricity Office, Siddiqur Rahman, said, “I am working jointly with the Roads and Highways Department to remove the electric poles in the middle of the road. A contractor has been appointed, and work has started in some places.
Locals quickly removed these electric poles and demanded that the authorities concerned ensure safe movement.”
