Returning officers have allotted the symbols of the contending candidates in the 12th National Assembly elections.
In this, 6 independent candidates got eagle symbol, 4 kettle symbol, 3 truck symbol, 2 cauliflower and one each got watermelon and bench symbol.
On Monday, symbols were allotted to the divisional commission and district administration offices in Chattogram.
According to the office of the returning officer, independent candidate Mohammad Ghiyas Uddin has received the eagle symbol in Chittagong-1 (Meersrai) constituency.
Although 7 candidates are contesting in this seat, Ghiyas Uddin, an independent candidate, can compete with Mahbub Ur Rahman, a candidate of the boat symbol.
Independent candidate for Chittagong-2 (Fatikchari) seat is former Fatikchari upazila chairman Md Abu Tayyub got the watermelon symbol and another independent candidate Mohammad Shahjahan got the eagle symbol. 8 candidates are competing in this seat. Awami League candidate Khadijatul Anwar Soni will compete with Abu Taib.
Independent candidate in Chittagong-3 (Sandwip) Constituency, leader of the Independent Medical Council (Swachip) Jamal Uddin Chowdhury received the Eagle symbol. Although there are 8 candidates in this seat, the main competition will be between Awami League candidate Mazfuzur Rahman and Jamal Uddin.
Chittagong-4 (Sitakunda): 6 candidates from different parties including Awami League candidate are contesting in this seat. As there are no independent candidates, only party symbols are allotted to the candidates.
Independent candidate in Chittagong-5 (Hatahazari) constituency. Shahjahan Chowdhury received the kettle symbol.
