NN Online:
BNP senior leader Nazrul Islam Khan stated on Friday that the national election must proceed on time, emphasizing that the people’s fundamental right to vote should not be compromised for the sake of any political party’s convenience or to allow them time to reorganize.

“Some parties may want more time to reorganize or form alliances. But that doesn’t justify delaying the people’s right to vote. This is unacceptable,” he said during a discussion.

Nazrul reiterated BNP’s demand for holding the election by December, calling it entirely reasonable and noting that no credible counter-argument has been presented so far.

“There is no alternative to political power and no substitute for an elected government when it comes to tackling the country’s challenges. The sooner our interim government realises this, the better,” he added.

The remarks were made at a programme organized by the Bangladesh Labour Party, titled ‘Maulana Abdul Matin’s Role in Building an Exploitation-Free Society’, held at the Jatiya Press Club to mark the 29th death anniversary of the party’s founder, Maulana Abdul Matin.
