The Election Commission (EC) will announce the roadmap for the upcoming national polls next week, Senior Secretary Md Akhtar Ahmed said on Thursday.
Speaking to reporters at Nirbachan Bhaban, Ahmed said the roadmap will outline key preparations, timelines, and activities ahead of the election, including schedules for dialogues with civil society and journalists, and plans for amendments or reforms to electoral laws.
Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin earlier indicated that the national election is likely to take place in the first half of February, with preparations already ramped up nationwide.
The EC has so far received 318 applications from election observer organisations, which are under review. Verification of documents for 22 new political parties is also in progress, with field-level checks planned to confirm authenticity.
Regarding out-of-country voting (OCV) for expatriate Bangladeshis, Ahmed said discussions are ongoing to determine the process, locations, and methods. “Once finalised, we will keep you informed regularly,” he added.
