The election of the Executive Committee (2025–2027) of the Bangladesh Jute Association (BJA) has been completed. The bearer election was held on Monday afternoon at the organization’s Narayanganj office. Khandaker Alomgir Kabir was elected unopposed as Chairman, S.M. Saiful Islam Piyas as Senior Vice Chairman, and Md. Tarek Afzal as Vice Chairman. Earlier, on October 18, 12 candidates were elected from the General Group out of 25 contestants, while 6 members from the Associate Group were elected unopposed, forming an 18-member Executive Committee in total.
The elected executive members are: Md. Farhad Ahmed Akand, Shamim Ahmed, S.M. Moniruzzaman (Palash), Khairuzzaman, Md. Kutub Uddin, Sheikh Imam Hossain, S.M. Hafizur Rahman, Badrul Alam (Markin), H.M. Prince Mahmud, Md. Tofazzal Hossain, Mohammad Iqbal Hossain Bhuiyan, Md. Nur Islam, Md. Alomgir Khan, Ranjan Kumar Das, and S.M. Saiful Islam. Newly elected Chairman Khandaker Alomgir Kabir said that due to the current suspension of raw jute exports, many jute traders and exporters are facing a crisis. “Several businessmen are now burdened with loans. We will work together to address their issues,” he added.
