Election activity increases in Sylhet: 32 candidates file nominations for 6 constituencies

Since the announcement of the schedule for the 13th National Parliament election, candidates for the six parliamentary constituencies in Sylhet have become active. Election winds are blowing in all constituencies. Like the rest of the country, the process of collecting nominations has already started in Sylhet. A total of 32 candidates have collected nominations for these constituencies as of yesterday, Wednesday.
The office of the Senior District Election Officer of Sylhet confirmed this information regarding the distribution of nominations. According to the information of the Senior District Election Office, five nominations have been distributed in Sylhet-1 constituency. Among them, candidates of BNP, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Ganaodhikar Parishad, Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal, Marxist and Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) have collected nominations.
Six nominations have been distributed in Sylhet-2 constituency. Among them, two BNP candidates, two candidates of Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish, one candidate each of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Ganadhikar Parishad and Gana Forum have taken nomination papers. Eight nomination papers have been distributed in Sylhet-3 constituency. Among them, two independent candidates, Jatiya Nagorik Party, Jatiya Party (GM Quader), Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, BNP, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish, Islami Andolan Bangladesh have collected one nomination paper each.
Four candidates have collected nomination papers in Sylhet-4 constituency. Among them, one candidate each of BNP, Jatiya Nagorik Party, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish and Ganadhikar Parishad has collected nomination papers. Five nomination papers have been distributed in Sylhet-5 constituency. Among them, one candidate each of BNP, Jamiat-e-Ulama-e-Islam, Independent, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish and Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has collected nomination papers.
Four candidates have collected nomination papers in Sylhet-6 constituency. Of these, two BNP candidates, one candidate each from Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam and Gana Adhikar Parishad have collected their nomination papers. Tanvir Hossain Sajeeb, Assistant Commissioner (Information and Complaints Branch, Confidential Branch, Media Cell) of the Sylhet District Commissioner’s Office, confirmed this information and said, “Candidates are collecting nomination papers from the offices of the Returning Officer and the concerned Assistant Returning Officers of Sylhet. So far, 32 candidates have collected their nomination papers.”
