Eid is knocking at the door. The shopping spree has reached its peak in the capital as the city dwellers were flocking to shopping malls everyday, as the festival of Eid is barely two days away.
Markets and shopping malls have been hit by a heavy rush of customers who are on a buying spree ahead of the Eid-ul-Fitr, one of the largest religious festivals of Muslims.
Huge crowd was seen at different shopping malls, roadside shops and footpath markets in the capital as people from all walks of life were thronging there to make the best out of their shopping spree for celebrating the Eid festivity.
Heavy rush of shoppers hit the New Market, Chandni Chowk, Gausia Supermarket, Bashundhara City, Jamuna Future Park, and shopping malls at Gulshan, Banani, Dhanmondi, and other parts of the capital everyday.
People were buying clothes and footwear in New Market, Science Lab, Farmgate and Gulistan areas mostly from the hawkers sitting on the sidewalks.
Traffic around the shopping malls on these days was terrible and the traffic system towards the shopping malls virtually collapsed from the afternoon.
Salesmen were busy to satisfy customers with their best products while some customers complained about high prices of different items. Roadside vendors were also seen making brisk business ahead of Eid.
Posh shopping malls including Bashundhara Shopping Complex, Jamuna Future Park, Shoppers World, Karnaphuli Garden City, Chandni Chawk, Farmview Super Market, Palwell Super Market,Eastern Plaza, Eastern Plus, Bailey Road, Twin Towers, Bishal Centres, Rapa Plaza, Mohammadpur Super Market, Amir Complex and Fortune Shopping Mall witnessed huge rush of shoppers.
Men and boys were seen busy in buying Panjabis, T-shirts and formal shirts from different brand shops including Mantra, Plus Point, Texmart, Ecstasy, Cats Eye, Lubnan, Yellow, Arong, Anjans, Dorjibari, Westecs, Banglar Mela, Probortana, Sadakalo, Kay Kraft, Deshal, Deshi Dosh, Infinity, Rang, Nitto Upohar and Nagordola.
People were seen choosing shoes from different shoe outlets, including Bata, Apex, Jennys, Orion and Bay emporium.
Some people were busy in buying jewellery, optical, perfumes, electronics and home decorative items. n
