Three people were killed and three others injured when a microbus crashed into a parked truck on the Dhaka-Tangail Highway in Basail Upazila of Tangail.
The accident took place around 9:00 AM on Tuesday in the Karatipara Bypass area, said Jalal Uddin, Officer-in-Charge of Basail Police Station.
The deceased have been identified as Amzad Hossain, 50, and his two sons — Ratul, 14, and Otul, 24. The microbus driver and two other passengers were injured.
According to locals, the family was traveling from Dhaka to their ancestral home in Sherpur to celebrate Eid. The microbus reportedly lost control near the Karatia area and slammed into the back of a stationary truck. Amzad and his sons died on the spot. Among the injured were Amzad’s wife and the truck driver.
The bodies have been sent to Tangail General Hospital morgue for autopsy and will be handed over to the family after legal procedures are completed, said OC Jalal. Both the microbus and the truck have been seized by police.
